Tuition Reimbursement...How it Works
To encourage drivers to work for them out of school, major over-the-road companies offer
tuition reimbursement. This is a monthly payment, usually $100-150 per month,
sent to the student or to the financing company handling a student's tuition.
True tuition reimbursement is over and above regular pay.
Here is is how it works. If your school's tuition is $2395, the trucking company will
begining paying $150 per month after you have been employed a month or two. At this rate,
your tuition is paid off in 16 months by the company.
Most over-the-road companies offer tuition reimbursement as long as you go to work for them right out of school (your first employer), and as long as you stay with them.
